Good quick history of LA here. 1931 seems like it must’ve been a good year.
Los Angeles then:

and Los Angeles now:

What a tragedy.
I was inspired to do this post after I heard about the unprovoked and brutal beating of Brian Stow by two Mexicans in Dodger Stadium. He has suffered extensive damage due to all the kicks to the head. No one came to his aid. Here’s a link if you want to donate.

What a shithole. Its sad seeing the destruction of once great cities.
It seems that the “then” Los Angeles was an atmosphere of relaxation and celebration, much like our modern perception of it as a place of beauty and wealth, even though each era surely had its high and low points. But what I see in the ease of days of yore is still some constraint, unity, a touch of modesty and self-respect and, I suppose happiness in their lives.
The “now” photos only speak of emptiness and division. The L.A. Unified School District is held up as one of despicable character, and Hispanic and Black relations are not going as well as some people hoped they might. Meanwhile, the white people who live in L.A. are vacuous and vapid, promising nothing but scandal and objects of voyeurism for the rest of us to ogle.
As always when I read your blog, I wonder: Why? I think I know the answer but on some animal level that I cannot yet put into words, lest I be called a racist (oh, wait: been there, fired for that).
When the Why is answered, there’s no going back.
Well, that’s what happen when the first world population get replaced by third worlders, simply as that… we are all equals, we are all the same, yeah right! I wonder why whites basically invented everything “single-handedly” then lol
Classic. Thanks for this.
Ethnic cleansing — in pictures!
At least we have graphic evidence, for the show trials and executions.
time to move
Wait, so you’re saying LA wasn’t a polluted, crime-ridden shithole at some point?
It was such a paradise, that in the 60s Scandinavian educators took a tour of the LA county public schools to learn “what they were doing right” and how to implement it in their home countries.
What they were doing right = being white Americans
I’ve found a website that should be right down your alley, Flavia: Reminisce Magazine.
Fantastic, such memories of beautiful places before they were destroyed by the ONE thing they had in common – Planet of the Apes. These places were totally messed up. LA is sad due to the Hollywood people and their lax, loose morals which they televise and foist on the rest of us in the USA. People were first habituated into TV watching with Ozzy and Harriet, Father Knows Best etc., which were harmless enough. Later things began to go down the slippery slope with material becoming more and more and more risque, until now we have Glee and this other homosexual-promoting filth – Degrassi – where the girls are lesbians and one is a tranny. Children’s channels, and when will Blues Clues the dog begin cornholing another dog who will be male? It will happen, they try so hard to introduce it earlier and earlier as normal.
Love your blog and appreciate it so much Flavia! Can’t wait for Dolls then and now!
Seeing as black people have been in LA since the turn of the century, where are they in the ‘before’ photos?
It was over 90% white- and the major minorities were Mexicans/Indians. http://www.census.gov/population/www/documentation/twps0056/twps0056.html
Okay, wow, you really SHOULD have been born hundreds of years go.
