Yesterday you were introduced to the themes, characters and relationships of Glee. Today we will look into some of the plotlines and musical interludes of this show and the message they send out.
Plotlines:
Football jock Dave bullies Kurt, because Kurt is gay
Buuuuut….it turns out that Dave the bully, is only bullying Kurt because he is secretly gay and in love with Kurt. This very Freudian turn sends the message that people only bully gays because they secretly want to fuck them. So if you bully queers, you’re a big ol’ queer yourself.
Plotline: Slut Christian blonde cheerleader hypocrite Quinn gets her come-uppings when she gets pregnant by her boyfriend Finn.
But seeing as she is a slut AND a hypocrite it’s actually another jock’s child (Puck). She knew this the entire time and was trying to cuckold Finn.
Quinn’s horrible uptight Christian parents (more horrible than her, even) kicked her out on the street when they discovered she was pregnant, even though she begged for forgiveness. She gives the child up for adoption.
Idiot Christian, Finn makes a grilled cheese sandwich he thinks looks like Jesus and prays to it, hoping that his wishes get granted.
He is then approached by Rachel in his room. She does not believe in “Grilled Cheezus” and insists her children will be brought up Jewish. Finn, overcome by his desire for her, agrees- and she gets him to second base.
Terri Scheuster, blonde wife of the Glee club teacher (and aunt to Quinn!!!!) , fakes a pregnancy to avoid divorce. She is generally a controlling bitch who is trying to break up the glee club.
Funding is cut and Artie will have to travel to Glee competitions at his own expense due to his disability.
The Glee coach makes all the kids use wheelchairs to see what it feels like. They are able to raise enough money to cover Artie’s costs due to a very successful bake sale, where the goods were laced with marijuana, giving everyone the munchies.
Mike Chang’s evil dad wants his son to be financially secure and pushes him study medicine.
Mike defies him by saying he will be a dancer when he grows up (big demand at those dancing factories?). Mike’s dad comes around, and learns that everyone should follow their dreams (for fame).
Mercedes is forced to lose weight by blonde villain Sue in order to fit in a cheer outfit.
She ends up fainting and having to go to the emergency room. All her friends rally around her and tell her not to lose weight. Quin (who is nice for one episode!) tells Mercedes that she respects her for accepting herself, and she learned how important eating was once she became pregnant. Mercedes goes off the diet.
“The Beast”, who is also the high school football coach (yes, to the guys) thinks she’s too ugly to have a boyfriend and has never had a kiss before.
But a handsome college football coach falls in love with her for some reason.
Joe Hart is a new addition to the Christian club, but his Christian beliefs lead him to hesistate when having to sing a song to a lesbian couple. He changes his mind as he realizes, “Love is love, man.”
He sings for the happy couple as they share a kiss.
The entire Glee club is boycotting Finn and Rachel’s wedding because they are too young to get married and Rachel should focus on her dreams of “becoming famous” on Broadway.
When Santana came out to her grandmother, she disowned her, because of her strict Catholic beliefs. This is portrayed as a terrible thing.
When Kurt comes out to his macho dad, his dad say he is perfectly fine with it and is unfazed. His dad also attempted for Kurt to be allowed to sing songs reserved for the female Glee cast. This is all spun as very positive, especially when juxtaposed with Santana’s grandma’s “bigotry”.
Kurt’s dad gets a heart attack. People try to rally around Kurt and pray for his dad but he refuses the prayers (specifically Quinn’s) because Christianity is “anti-gay, woman, and science.”
Mercedes brought him to her “more spiritual” black church and he was more OK with it, and came to terms with allowing prayers for his dad, even though he was still an avowed atheist (this episode also touched upon Sue’s atheism).

Kurt and Finn’s parents get married and the two boys are forced to share a bedroom. Kurt aggresively tries to seduce Finn, ignoring his discomfort with it-even going as far as decorating his bedroom like a harem. Finn says that Kurt’s bedroom decoration is faggy and Kurt’s dad throws Finn out of the house for disrespecting his son.
Finn “makes it up to him” by dressing up in drag for his Glee performance.
Finn had also asked Kurt to dance at his parents wedding, showing that although sometimes bigoted he usually does the right thing (appease gays regardless of his feelings or convictions). Maybe in another episode he can take it up the ass, to show that he’s REALLY tolerant.
Songs (just a few, because seriously, my head is spinning):
During the Lady Gaga (of course, right!?) episode, everyone sang “Born This Way” proudly wearing a t-shirt that boasts about what makes them different.

But is this a case of art imitating life or the other way around? The last ten years or so has seen a big push from the homosexualists to normalize this kind of deviant behavior. Maybe more women are doing this because they’re impressionable and they think this kind of behavior is okay, or even cool.
The imitation you speak of could be the young college set at clubs performing to turn on guys with girl on girl action. But the cases I’m seeing of actual relationships is not imitation. They are finding the love and stability they crave from female partners who value domestic bliss just as much as they do. Some say they will never go back to men now.

The reaction by the grandmother indicates how little the writers know about actual practicing Catholics, or maybe it’s that they just don’t care. The proper Catholic response would be to tell the granddaughter that her lesbian behavior is unnatural and a sin and then tell her you’re going to pray for her.
It also bothers me how these people conveniently forget that it’s only in societies shaped by Christianity and its focus on the dignity of each individual as a unique soul made in God’s image that such flying of one’s freak flag is tolerated. In most places and times throughout history, these people would have been stoned to death. But, no, to them it is Christianity that is hateful and bigoted, not because it actually persecutes them, but because it pricks their consciences causing them to have doubts about their sinful lifestyles. People don’t like to be reminded of their sinful behavior.
Sometimes stoning the freaks to death is the best response.

I think the point I realized exactly how biased and warped this show is was the episode in season 1 when Kurt and Finn were forced to share a room. Instead of actually listening to Finn’s desires and attempts to find a balance between their tastes, Kurt ran roughshod over them. While hitting on Finn. When Finn finally snaps at walking into their room to find he was completely ignored and would have to live with someone who’s hitting on him and making him uncomfortable, Kurt’s dad walks in.
Responding only to the anger, he obviously takes his own kid’s side. Finn is kicked out of the house and portrayed as the ‘bad guy’ and Kurt as the ‘poor abused victim.’ Bullshit. Never once does Kurt apologize, never once does he try to see things from the other point of view.
Instead, the writers have Finn come back and abjectly apologize by emasculating himself. To the point of dressing as a woman.
Ugh.

Yeah. I have a bunch of free time in certain parts of my job. If I’m making a scale model for a show I’m probably burning 8-30 hours of work on it depending on the size, accuracy, and complexity I want to achieve. Thats a lot of time where I can throw on various TV shows while working, so I thought I’d see what the fuss was about.
I was floored by some of the stuff that happened in Glee. But I saw exactly why anyone in any performance art (IE all my co-workers) would eat it up.

This constant pushing of the homosexual agenda has undoubtedly something to do with a resurgence of people that try being bi-curious because many people are soft in the head and will respond to anything that is presented as sophisticated or fashionable. And these things are consistently portrayed in media as positive, while Christianity or a Christian response to any of these things in almost always portrayed as “backward, ignorant, bigoted, intolerant” and of course, negative. Many people are very susceptible to “popular opinion” when in fact, it’s not popular opinion at all. It is, however, the opinion of a very small very powerful group with a tremendous death grip on media and a deep hatred of Christianity and Jesus Christ. There is a strong push to break down the foundations of the traditional family structure so eventually each human being stands alone as an economic unit, without ties to family or God, tied only to economic production and/or consumption. Homo economicus is the goal, and finding God within man is another hideous, satanic goal – if God is within man, God is self, man is convinced he is God – following in the footsteps of another unruly angel. Hence the selfishness of our society and the resurgence of all the New Age religious schools of thought with an emphasis on transcendental meditation, paganism, buddism, occultists, wiccans, etc. While civilization was guided by the light of Christianity, culture and knowledge expanded and grew throughout Europe. If that civilization is destroyed, it’s people will shortly follow. And if Europeans are gone, the fate of civilization will be in the hands of Northeast Asia. The world will certainly feel the loss. What will a world without European descended peoples be like? Unrecognizabe after one or two centuries, I believe.

Yeah. Sadly its like fashion, beauty, and many other areas of popular opinion – the writers are all of minorities and majority of the people involved in anything artistic are either very liberal in their views or silent because they like their job.
I say that as a person who works in theatre and does like his job.

Well I’ve done my part – and my children are thoughtful and on the conservative side. I’ve deprogrammed them from the leftist schools as much as I could and they’ve taken it from there. I’d be curious to know, if you don’t mind, your ages – uh, flavia, leap, just to get a handle on how effective the brainwashing is. In other words if you are young I’d be more hopeful than if you were my age (47) because we see the change much more clearly since we grew up in a time when PC was not the norm. Of course decent people didn’t use racial slurs anyway – such as “nigger” simply because it was considered low-class, but saying “crippled” instead of physically challenged, or “retarded” instead of mentally challenged, was acceptable and there was no such thing as “hatespeech”. “Hate” is now commonly associated with racial issues, when before it was just used when you really disliked someone or something. You could hate a type of food or a person. In fact even black kids were nowhere near the way they are now – there was no rap – we played together (sports), went to camp together, but separated to go to different parts of town and nobody blabbed about race at all. Now it seems they are utterly separate and full of hate for whites much worse than the 70s and 80s. Now I wouldn’t let my own kids near them and I avoid them myself as much as I can for fear of violence and “payback” – see the blog Black Foot Soldier Network – Good God. They actually make fun of Channon Christian and say white girls will be “channon christian’ed”. Unbelievable.

I’m an agnostic Catholic- I just like the tradition of it. I don’t have a problem with homosexuality at all either, actually I think that unattached men help to drive civilization forward – married men are the bedrock of civilization, but men with nothing to lose tend to take more risks. I just don’t like how homosexuality has become synonymous with debased and frivolous behavior. It’s so fucking base.
Homosexual communities tend to be nice places to live. They’ll often reclaim ghettos, driving up the price of rent, and pushing out the criminality.
They may not be a bedrock of civilization, but they are often middling- to high-income earners, rather than welfare tenants. While a substantial minority is depraved, a good portion of them – possibly the majority – make fine neighbours, even if they do have leftward leanings.
I lived right on South Beach and it was exactly what you mentioned- a previous ghetto (Section 8 one block from the beach!! WTF!!) that was cleaned up by well to do gays. Unfortunately a lot of them have moved out (into Fort Lauderdale beach area) due to a rise in beatings by blacks that frequent the newly opened hip hop clubs. It was a wonderful gem for a while, but it is becoming more dangerous by the day. Too bad.

Many people, like these writers on Glee, have stopped speaking though.
They’re just drowning out any other viewpoints with the same weapons they accuse ‘the majority’ of using – intolerance, hate, and shame. They just get away with it because they’re ‘the minority’ even if they are louder.
I just worked on a play called Tartuffe that this reminds me off – someone speaking out against religious hypocrites that I think applies very well to the ‘religion of tolerance’ being built today:

To be honest, as much as I hate liberal propaganda like this poor excuse for entertainment, I really couldn’t care less about its anti-Christian sentiments as Christianity is a bronze aged mythology and like it or hate it, truth is important. What I particularly can’t stand about atheist liberals, however, is that they trade in their abrahamic religions only to adopt a secular one.
In addition, I’m also apathetic of Glee’s efforts in trying to normalize gay relationships as gays will not go cease existing even if you maintain a discriminate position against them. Just seems to me that the logical course of action is to accept and integrate them into society, but if you have a reasonable to acceptance of gays, do make it be known.
