Ice cream circa 1950s (at restaurants)
and now?

From mealsmatter.org
| Food or beverage | 1950s | Expanded 2003 portion | ||
| French fries | 2.4 ounces | up to 7.1 ounces | ||
| Fountain soda | 7.0 ounces | 12 to 64 ounces | ||
| Hamburger patty | 1.6 ounces | up to 8.0 ounces | ||
| Hamburger sandwich | 3.9 ounces | 4.4 to 12.6 ounces | ||
| Muffin | 3.0 ounces | 6.5 ounces | ||

What do you think? Do portions and asses expand in tandem?

I have to disagree with one thing: milkshakes are good. Though a 32 oz. one is disgusting. Of course, drinking nearly a liter at once of almost any liquid is vile, unless it’s a beer at Oktoberfest.
Milkshakes taste like melted ice cream, but I do enjoy smoothies. Beer trumps all, of course.
over here, we have your smaller portion sizes (and at twice the price) and the Irish are still fat.
I have an Irish ‘then and now’ post coming up for you lol.
I think beer-drinking among women (and indeed, beer-goggles among men) might have something to do with the rise of the Irish fatty..
Here you go, it’s our ‘People of Walmart’ moment:-
